If it were up to me our Halloween party would rival all other holiday celebrations. This year our new house allowed me to really have fun with our Halloween decorations, and since I prefer spooky over gory, our party this year will have a creepy haunted house feel.
I started by draping light fixtures with fake spiderwebs. Hanging spiders from fishing line gives it a little unexpected touch. You can’t see the fishing line from a step or two back, so everyone in the house has done a double take at least once over them!

Our dining room server has become a mini apothecary, full of suspicious bottles and old books covered in spider webs. This look was easy. The bottles are finds from a few craft stores, which is also where I found the bottle labels. The books are actually old books I picked up at a yard sale over the summer! I added in a few pumpkins from a local farm too.

The mantle keeps with the theme from the dining room, covered in creepy books, bottles and spiderwebs. In front of the mantle I’ve stacked a few craft pumpkins and a large lantern.

Separating the dining room and living room is our small Halloween village. It’s filled with animated pieces and zombie villagers.

This is our first year doing a Halloween tree. We opted for a tabletop tree that has a very bare, old tree look because it went well with our haunted theme. I added a small set of Halloween lights and some Halloween ornaments for a little pop of color and glitter. The tree felt really incomplete for a while. but the other day I found this raven in the floral section at Michaels and adopted it as our tree topper. I made some jack o lantern ornaments using empty glass ornaments, vinyl and candy corn.

Even though we haven’t done the elf on the shelf yet it was really hard to resist this Ghoul on a Stool. Our Ghoul has been a lot of fun, playing tricks and leaving sweets for the kids. He even hung some witches tights on the mantle for the boys!

Outside some solar panel bulbs hung from fishing line surround our pumpkin ghoul and a Short Cicuit Street Sign points trick or treaters in the right direction.

We finished off with a few flickering lights inside and plans to serve some deliciously gory food. My Trick or Treat Candy Wreath is ready to hang on the front door and all that’s left to do is anxiously count down the days until we don our costumes! Speaking of costumes, what are you wearing this year?
Oh, here’s a bonus shot of some pretty fall trees near my house!
