My husband and I recently upgraded our phones and have spent some time shopping around for screen protectors and cases to go along with them. My husband is a lot pickier than I am, I have a tendency to just buy whatever the store has in stock at the moment because I am completely irresponsible with my phone. The kids play with it, I drop it out of the car all the time (I mean, really, all the time (Why is it so easy to forget my phone is in my lap as I get out of the car??), it’s been tossed in the toilet, dropped down stairs, accidentally placed in the fridge and forced to endure splashing at bath time. So here I am with a beautiful new iPhone 6S Plus, just staring at that crisp, vibrant screen and hoping that I remembered to buy apple care as I shop for a screen protector that can handle me. So when I had a chance to review the intelliGLASS HD Hardened Glass Screen Protector from IntelliArmor I was really intrigued. A screen protector made of glass? This I had to check out with my own eyes.
The intelliGLASS HD claims to be a smarter screen protector. Made of two layers – first a silicone layer to adhere easily to your device and then a specially hardened and treated tempered glass layer making the intelliGLASS HD ultra clear and exceptionally strong. It has a coating that repels fingerprints and smudges with a slim profile and extremely easy installation.
So the intelliGLASS HD shows up on my doorstep in a very sleek looking box and my husband’s phone is actually the one getting the star treatment tonight because I already have a screen protector on, and he’s convinced me that I should compare the two. Unpacking the package is really easy and there are a few pretty straightforward components to the intelliGLASS HD screen protector. An alcohol wipe and microfiber cloth for cleaning the screen, a dirt film to get any stubborn bits of dust that stick behind and very detailed instructions. And then there’s the screen protector, which is cool right out of the box because it isn’t flexible like you would expect. It is actually a thin, rigid piece made of tempered glass (so don’t bend or drop it before installing it!).
Installing it was so much easier than I thought it would be. I had initially tasked my husband with this because I’m not great at things that require precision, but he was caught up at work and I’m stubborn so I forged ahead. As you can see in the video below, the installation impressed me. Clean the screen with the alcohol wipe, microfiber cloth and dust film and then just place the intelliGLASS HD protector on the screen and smooth it out.
Of course I didn’t line it up well the first time, so following the instructions I was able to gently peel the screen back off and preposition it. Once I had it lined up correctly it was simple to just rub for the center outwards in in seconds, literally seconds, the screen protector was installed. I was really surprised to find no air bubbles, especially because I had applied it so quickly. The screen protector is crisp and clear, you can’t even notice that it is there unless you looks at the very edge of it. The phone feels great and is as responsive as ever. It has a hard glass feeling which is more like the actual phone screen than anything else, so if you’re the kind of person who hates the feeling of traditional screen protectors this is a really great option.
When I handed the phone back over to my husband he was really impressed. As someone who has refused to use a screen protector for years because he liked the look and feel of the phone without it, I was surprised at the complete and utter lack of complaints! Overall, I’m jealous and will be upgrading my own screen protector to the intelliGLASS HD asap.
