Game Day is almost here, and for us that means it’s time to stock up on party food and come up with a post-game cleaning plan. I’m never sure which is worse: the crumbs tracked through the house by the kids or the stains and spills left behind by our grown up company. I’m having my boiler replaced the day before the Super Bowl, so Game Day planning has been a little stressful I need to make sure everything is finished and cleaned from our boiler installation, and find time to prep all the food. With all the work to be done before the game, having a plan for clean up really helps me relax and enjoy the day because I know I won’t have to be up all night cleaning! Of course, the first step is to make sure I have everything I need for the big day. This year I’m focusing on quick and easy snacks, and things the kids can help make since they’re really interested in cooking lately.

With snacks squared away my biggest challenge is the carpet in our family room. This carpet sees a lot of action – the kids are always snacking and eating in this room so we see plenty of spilled drinks and crumbs, plus snow and dirt tracked in from the backyard. So, I’m always on my hands and knees trying to restore its cleanliness again. To be honest, I sometimes worry that I’m doing more damage than good. No wonder there have been certain situations when I’ve thought about contacting these carpet cleaning services to come in and give my carpet the deep clean that it probably needs. I’m sure having it cleaned like this is long overdue. With that being said, this is also the room that sees the most crafting and activity action so it’s not unusual to find glitter, kinetic sand or glue stuck in the carpet. Therefore, as I’m sure you can imagine, having a good vacuum is very important to me. I am always reading reviews on sites like All Great Vacuums to see which vacuums are rated best and to see if there is anything out there which is better than what I currently have. Generally, Shark vacuums are very highly rated and I have been meaning to try one out for a while. Well, my wishes were granted when I recently received a Shark Rocket Powerhead vacuum to review, so the family room is the perfect proving ground.
I vacuum weekly, and when the Shark Rocket Powerhead arrived I had vacuumed a day prior. I figured I’d run it to see if it picked up anything my old vacuum had left behind. My discovery was partly exciting, and partly gross. Because the Shark Rocket Powerhead picked up a lot. A lot of dirt. A lot of crumbs. A lot of dust. Stuff that my family is walking, crawling and playing on every single day because our old vacuum isn’t getting it out! After seeing this I had another idea – the carpet in out master bedroom has been an issue since we moved here. There are bits of black fuzz embedded in the carpet from who knows what. I’ve vacuumed constantly and have even attempted to remove them by hand out of desperation. We had pretty much decided to call someone similar to this Rug Cleaning Hawthorn company to clean the carpet professionally in the spring. I turned the Shark Rocket Powerhead up to High Speed and started in on the carpet. I can’t even describe the feeling as I watched this black fuzz being pulled out of the carpet. I ran to get my husband and we both just stared at the room. After months of being driven crazy the carpet looked brand new!
Imagine how my carpet looked before! The entire carpet was covered in those little black specks. It was frustrating for us and embarrassing too, because the carpet never looked clean! When guests were over I’d run to the bedroom door or cringe when my husband offered for people to put bags or coats in our room. Seeing the carpet free of black bits made the whole room feel new!
Before I go on and on about how excited I am over this, I should give you a run down of the other features I really love in this vacuum:
The entire vacuum weighs only 9lbs, which is really light for an upright vacuum. I can easily carry it up and down stairs.
The dust container is so easy to clean. You just step on the release button and pull the entire container out. Then hold it over the garbage and press another button to open the bottom and empty it. The filter is also easily accessible and simple to clean.
With the exception of bedrooms and the family room the rest of our house has hardwood floors so I love that the Shark Rocket Powerhead is designed for both hard floor and carpet. It has two brushrolls that are very simple to change between. One is an all surface brushroll and the other is a Gentle Touch Hard Floor Brushroll. The all surface brushroll is great for hard floors and carpet. On High Power it deep cleans even thick carpet pulling up stubborn debris and lots of dust. Although, let’s face it if you’ve really done a number on your carpet sometimes the best approach would be to get in touch with professional cleaning companies such as Chem-Dry Carpet Cleaning that can rejuvenate carpets and rugs to their previous state! The Gentle Touch Hard Floor Brush Roll not only sucks up debris, it also gently removes stuck on dirt and dust to leave behind beautiful, shiny floors. The brushroll not in use stores neatly in a container on the side of the vacuum.
The vacuum maneuvers easily and has fingertip controls and a telescoping handle so adjust to various heights, making vacuuming comfortable for everyone.
With the motor and dust bin located in the head of the vacuum Shark has managed to reduce the airflow path and increase power and efficiency through design.
The vacuum takes up very little space. I love the compact design because I can easily tuck it out of the way in a corner and leave it accessible to me when I need it – and with three kids it’s pretty much not even worth it to put a vacuum away, so this is a huge plus for me!
