When I agreed to a Minecraft themed birthday party I thought it would easy. Minecraft is huge right now, so I’ll be able find supplies pretty much anywhere, right? Naturally, I left it to the last minute. Two days before his class birthday party at school I decided to run out and pick up some cupcake and favor bag supplies. And that was when I realized that absolutely no one sells any Minecraft themed party goods. At all. After visiting every store that I thought might have a remote chance of selling some Minecraft goodies, and even a few that I knew wouldn’t (uh, hey BJ’s, I would totally buy Minecraft toys in bulk!), I trudged home with a tub of vanilla frosting, green food coloring, some green paper favor bags and absolutely no idea how I was going to salvage this party.
After sitting at home staring at these green party bags, I started to consider hand drawing Creeper faces on to them. Actually I started drawing Creeper faces on them, but after the first one took me five minutes to finish (the artistic gene skipped me entirely) I knew there was no way I was going to get 23 more done in time. But that bag looked so cool. After fooling around a little bit more with it I decided I would make an image and try to print it onto the bag, saving myself tons of time, and it worked!
Here are step by step instructions for downloading the printable and printing on your bags!
- First you need the bags. I used these : Lime Green Paper Party Favor Bags.
- Next, download my free Free Printable Minecraft Creeper Favor Bag Template.
- Open it and click “PRINT“.
- When the printer dialog opens, first make sure that “fit to page” is NOT checked.
- Next, you need to set up the printer for the size of the bag. Click “Printer Options” and on the first dialog select “envelope” from the media type list.
- Then, click on “Page Setup” and choose “custom” on the Page Size list. Enter the dimensions of your bag (double check the packaging for exact dimensions).
- Click OK and begin printing!
In order to keep your printer from jamming you will need to feed the bags into the printer one at a time. It is important to feed the paper correctly so that the bag doesn’t jam the printer and the image prints in the right direction:
Now repeat printing for as many bags as you need. We filled the bags with Minecraft toys, play dough and mini lego sets to keep with the theme of building and creating, and they were a big success!

What a great idea, how I wish I had a better printer
My printer is 7 years old and these came out pretty good on it!
WOW! Thank you! These are perfect. I really wanted to make my green bags Creepers, and there was NO way I was going to be able to draw on the bags with my skills. I was able to feed the bags in my tray by using the envelope size fitting. Thank you for making me the coolest Mom ever. Maybe it’s Sickest Mom ever!
Hello, when I attempt to print the mc party bag, it contains a watermark.
do you have one without it?
Hello!
When you print the bags, make sure you are downloading the Minecraft Creeper Bag template in the second step of the instructions and not one of the images used in the post, then it should print properly! Here is the link to the template:

This helped me sooo much the morning of my son’s 6th birthday party!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
I’m so glad to hear that!
Thank you for this. Not got the same printer like yours. Printed as normal. it worked. save me from drawing in the paper bag π
So glad it worked well for you! π
Thankyou. These are great and even though my printer didn’t like to print on the gloss of my bags, I printed one on cardboard and made a stencil to pain onto the bags instead.
LOVE these bags! I went to print them though and my printer will only allow me to feed the bag in the back vs the bottom so they all come out upside down π Do you have any idea how to flip the image? I tried on my end and it won’t let me for some reason. I am the worst with this stuff, but I love it so much and they’re perfect for my boys party tomorrow! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for doing and sharing this!
Do you have or know where to get any free printables for food/refreshments? Thank you!!
I am currently working on some Minecraft food and beverage printables for my son’s birthday next week, and I will definitely be sharing them here soon. In the meantime, Pinterest would probably have some nice printable party ideas!
Thank you! These turned out great! My son gave them 2 thumbs up and is very excited to use them at his party π
I’m so glad to hear that, hope he has a great birthday!
Just wanted to thank you so much! This was great! I bought these bags by happenstance with the same idea in mind and then VIOLA!! I found you!! What a blessing, you rock… keep on crafting momma!! I appreciate the time you took to help us all out and share your greatness:)
Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words!! Hope your party rocks! π
I purchased different bags and they didn’t work so I purchased the exact ones from your link above and the ink won’t print on them either. I’m extremely disappointed. The bags cost near 10$ for 2 small packs and they are a waste. any suggestions???
What kind of printer are you using? I’ve used those same bags twice now without any problems. Are you feeding them one at a time and removing the bag to dry before printing the next one? When I left them on the tray I found that the ink would smudge when the next bag slid on top of it. Because the bags are glossy they do take a little longer to dry (similar to photos printed on glossy paper).
You are BRILLIANT! I have already purchased the lime green bags so all I needed were the creeper faces. ***SAVED THE DAY*****
$2.25 for 24 awesome creeper bags!!! Thanks so much for the tutorial, it worked perfect on the bags I purchased from my local grocery store.
im using brother printer it keeps on jamming
Are you feeding them by hand one at a time?
Thank you so much for this! I had the bags already and this worked perfectly. π
