This really simple DIY Birdfeeder Craft is so easy and fun – it’s quick enough for a lazy afternoon craft, and easy enough to do with a group at a birthday party, in a classroom or with a scout troop! The kids not only love making this DIY Birdfeeder Craft, they love sitting back and seeing the reward as well – peeking at birds from a distance in the yard or through the kitchen window! It can be messy working with shortening and birdseed, but that why I’m so excited to have Dial Soap sponsoring this post – their new Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar and Foaming Hand Wash make it so easy to get squeaky clean over and over again without drying out your skin!
Of course the mess is half the fun – I recommend covering your table or taking this craft outside in the nicer weather for easy cleanup. This DIY Birdfeeder Craft will only take about ten minutes to make, perfect for even the smallest crafters and really great for groups, since it doesn’t require a lot of steps or supplies. My favorite part is that these Birdfeeders are ready to go right away, so I don’t have any impatient kids waiting for their crafts to dry or set! Before we get into this tutorial, let me tell you why I’m so excited to be working with Dial on this fun project!
I always make sure to have plenty of the new Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash on hand for our messier craft adventures. We love to play, craft, paint and cook together – and that means a whole lot of hand washing! When it comes to messy things I like to be laid back, but that doesn’t mean I’m not worried about the bacteria hanging out on my kids hands as they sit down to lunch, so I prefer a hand soap that tackles common household bacteria – but until now it’s been at the expense of soft skin. Dial has been tackling clean up in American households for 70 years, so it’s no surprise that they’re still solving our hand washing problems. Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash has 2x moisturizing ingredients vs regular hand soap and kills 99.99% of bacteria found in common household settings. That means our hands stay clean and our skin stays soft, even after repeated washing! And since I know I can find new Dial Complete® products at my local CVS, stocking up is never an issue – especially now when I can take advantage of on-package coupons to save $0.75 – $1.00 off of select Dial Complete® products!
Part of Dial’s amazing new 2 in 1 lineup is the Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar – another staple in our home. The beauty bar’s unique nourishing formula cleans and moisturizes leaving skin soft and beautiful. Forget just scrubbing hands, use the Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar on your face and body for more radiant, smoother skin vs. ordinary soap. And this is the only beauty bar that combines a moisturizer with antibacterial protection, so I’m confident that everyone in the house is ending their messy adventures clean from head to toe!
Supplies:
- Empty Paper Towel Tubes, cut in half
- Bird Seed
- Shortening
- String
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
- A tablecloth or newspaper to cover the table
- Dial Complete® 2 in 1 Moisturizing & Antibacterial Beauty Bar and Foaming Hand Wash
Assemble your supplies – Pour the bird seed into a dish or bowl large enough to lay the cardboard tube in.
Punch a hole in either side of one end of the cardboard tube. Tie the string so that we will have a way to hang the bird feeder.
Coat each tube with an even layer of shortening – you want it to be thick enough to allow the bird seed to stick to it.
Press the shortening covered tubes into the bird seed. Use your hands to firmly press the seed into the shortening, getting a nice coat of birdseed all around the tube.
At this point I like to gently lay my tubes on a tray or plate so that they can be carried outside without making a mess.
Bring your DIY Birdfeeder Craft outside and hang them on a sturdy tree branch in a quiet spot. Find a comfy spot at a distance and watch as birds flock to your yard for a treat!
