Friday, June 5th is National Donut Day! It makes sense that such a delicious treat would have it’s own day, and I have to get in on the fun by sharing some of my most favorite donut recipes and activities with you!
If you’re anything like me, your favorite thing about national donut day should be the free donuts. Both Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts are celebrating their delicious sweets by offering free donuts to customers on June 5th (at Dunkin Donuts you’ll have to purchase a drink to grab your freebie however), so make sure you stop in to get yours, there’s a lot of celebrating to be done and you can’t celebrate on an empty stomach!
The only thing better than free donuts is making your own donuts, because then you can eat as many as you want. So I’m sharing a list of my favorite donut recipes. Choosing which one of these to make is going to be hard, so you should just go on and make them all. Make a long weekend of it. National Donut Day only comes around once a year, guys.
These Old Fashioned Donuts from The Kitchen is My Playground are so classic, they just have to be at the top of my list. Nothing beats a good old fashioned donut with a tall glass of milk or a fresh cup of coffee.
And these Lemon Blueberry donuts combine two of my favorite flavors, plus they’re baked so I can feel better about serving them for breakfast!
Here’s a recipe for Cinnamon Sugar Apple-Butter Donuts. I know, it sounds amazing – well, they are!
This next recipe doesn’t require any baking or frying, but you will have to go out and get some glazed donuts to make these Peanut Butter Nutella Donut Sandwiches (yes, you heard me right, this is what you’ve been searching for your entire life. Why are you still here? Go buy some donuts!).
My husband would be very disappointing if these Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Donuts didn’t make the list!
These Cinnamon Sugar Donut Bites require only four ingredients, making them a snap to whip up!
Of course, if you’re looking to pull out all the stops and get really fancy on National Donut Day, then these Nutella Cheescake Donuts are screaming your name!
And since you’re making all these donuts, you should probably share some. Why not grab these adorable free printable donut boxes and straw toppers and have a donut party?
I’ll have to make at least three of these recipes on Friday, because there’s no way I can choose only one! Lucky for me I have three growing boys who can clean out a kitchen in a single afternoon, so I won’t be celebrating alone! What is your favorite donut flavor?
