Wow – what a year 2020 has turned out to be. I have done so many things this year I’d never imagined myself doing – from scrubbing my groceries with clorox to spending my mornings deciding which mask best matches my outfit.
I also never anticipated making decisions about how best to school my children during a global pandemic. First things first – whatever choices you are making about school this year – they’re awesome. And you are awesome. Because no choice has been simple and we are not giving ourselves enough credit for navigating this as best we can.
A few things 2020 has been gracious enough to teach me:
- Expect the unexpected.
- Be Flexible.
- Find joy wherever you can.
- Focus on the important things – our family is together and safe.
- Wine pairs well with distance learning.
Our school district is starting the year with 100% remote learning. That means four kids in different grades trying to learn simultaneously while my husband and I both work from home. My house will be a classroom-office-toddler jungle gym-full service diner for the foreseeable future.
It is going to be crazy. But, you know what? It’s also going to be OK. With a sense of humor, a lot of grace and some newly acquired coping skills we will figure it out.
And since we’re trying to make the best of this year, why not update some old traditions? Every year we take back to school photos with our personalized back to school signs, so I came up with a fun version to commemorate our unique circumstances this year.
You can easily grab and print these signs in any grades you need from Preschool to 12th grade!
And while you’re planning your back to school pics, check out this list of free (fun) online educational resources to help support kids learning at home!
To use the signs just download and print the ones you need. Share your BTS pics on Instagram with the hashtag #BearHugsAndBlanketForts to be featured in the community!
