With summer slipping away and the school year quickly approaching I’m starting to feel the pressure of preparing for a whole new year. My soon to be five year old is off to kindergarten this year, excited to be on the bus with his older brothers but disappointed to be leaving his best friend from preschool behind. Every year we use our Back to School Chalkboard Printables to highlight the kids hobbies and to match our End of the Year Chalkboard Printables, but since Kindergarten pictures are a little extra special I wanted to have something completely different to use.
These celebratory Back to School 2017 printables are colorful and fun, perfect for catching that first day optimism! I love having the year prominently displayed too. I’ve made these for preschool through 12th grade (in case anyone is lucky enough to have a highschooler who’s still smiling for first day pics!). To get them all you need to do is click on the image you want and bring up the full size picture. Then just save and download it to print! I like to add ours to an old photo frame so that they’re easy for the kids to hold up – I usually just grab one that’s hanging on the wall in our house, but any frame that fits an 8X10 photo will work.
I love to make the first day really special. I know it won’t be long before we’re all worn out and tired of the school schedule and counting the days until winter break, so it’s nice to make it fun while the kids are still excited. And there is a lot to be excited about, after all! They can look forward to seeing their friends again every day, to classes with favorite teachers and after schools clubs. I look forward to hearing their excitement over class pets and band assignments – and of course to having a slightly quieter house. It’s only mid-July and I already can’t remember what it feels like to get through an entire conference call without having to mute the phone to break up an argument.
My personal First Day of school tradition, after the special breakfast, pictures and school bus send off, is to run to Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte and revel in the fact that apple picking, Halloween and my other favorite Fall things are right around the corner!
Until then I’ll just keep slathering on sunscreen and enjoying afternoon picnics and late night movies with my boys, but it’s nice to know the changing season brings something to look forward to. What’s your favorite back to school tradition?

Hello!
First, I love love your page!
So many awesome ideas and info 🙂
I’ve been trying and trying to download the “last day of school” chalkboard girl version but it keeps opening only the boy version, do you have a separate link for the girl version? I would so appreciate it, thanks so much in advance!
