My love for green beans stems back to my childhood. My neighbor would plant her green bean plants up against the fence that divided our backyards, and each summer my friends and I wait excitedly for a few of those green pods to peak through and develop on our side of the fence. We would gently tug those stay beans off their vines and eat them raw, right then and there.
Even now the smell of green beans in the garden bring me right back to those long summer days. I always plant green beans in the spring, and they’ve become a favorite garden staple for my boys.

It’s not unusual to see my younger boys pulling beans off their vines to snack on while I work in the garden. My six year old prefers them raw to cooked – and although a younger version of myself might have agreed, I tend to enjoy my beans cooked just a bit these days!
There are a million different ways to enjoy green beans – but green bean fries are one of my favorites. Maybe because they’re essentially a finger food, delicious on their own or dipped in some ranch dressing, green bean fries speak to my inner child.
And I especially love these Air Fryer Green Bean Fries because they’re so crispy and delicious, and only take about ten minutes to make! The air fryer makes it simple to cook the breading to a crunchy perfection while still leaving the beans with a little snap – perfect for grabbing and dipping.

If you don’t have an air fryer you can always bake these up in the oven as well – just follow the same recipe and toss them onto a baking tray in a single layer, then bake them at 350 F until golden brown.
These Air Fryer Green Beans are great as a substitution for regular fries if you’re looking to cram more veggies into your diet or as a tasty and simple vegetable side. We serve them up along side hot dogs and burgers at barbecues or enjoy them along side fish and chicken.
These also make a great party appetizer! Serve them up alongside a few fun dips, like ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, Blue Cheese, Sriracha, garlic aioli or avocado sauce for a fun spin!
