Lunch is the kryptonite of my back to school experience.
There’s so much pressure! There’s bento lunches and pinterest lunches and that kid who’s mom packs a dinner worthy lunch that somehow manages to stay hot every day. It’s a lot of competition, especially when my son will only eat three things total, and two of them are different kinds of pop tarts.
My kids are not sandwich types. They don’t like bread. I know, I was a little shaken at first too, but I realize they’ll probably grow out of that just in time for their metabolisms to decide carbs are bad.
I do a lot of weird snack-type lunches. Club crackers and baby bell cheese with pepperoni slices is a favorite. Even if it’s not exactly the pepper slices and hard boiled egg I’d hoped for, I like that they find something they enjoy in their lunch. After all, they’ve been in class all day. By the time lunch rolls around it’s a much needed break and I love that they can find some comfort tucked into their lunchboxes.
I also love to stick cute notes in to let them know I’m thinking about them.
I kept these notes really simple, so they’re perfect for putting a smile on the face of younger kids! Print your own and see how easy it is to sneak a little extra happiness into your child’s day!
